TODAY'S DEVOTION:

Have you ever felt like you don't belong to the Lord? Maybe you've questioned whether God is really involved in your life or wondered if he truly loves you, sees you, and knows what you're going through. These are not thoughts unique to you—they echo through the hearts of God's people across the ages. Isaiah voices this longing and ache at 13:43: "Sometimes it seems as though we never belong to you, as though we have never been known as your people."

The people in Isaiah's day knew the stories—how God miraculously delivered Israel from Egypt, parting the sea and bringing them into a land of rest and abundance. They remembered his acts of faithful love. Yet, even surrounded by these stories, they struggled to see God's hand in their own circumstances 14:07.

David, too, recounted the Lord's rescue and provision, and in Psalm 107 he draws this conclusion: "Those who are wise will take all this to heart—They will see in our history the faithful love of the Lord" 14:22. Both Isaiah and David, through Scripture, challenge us to look back, to consider our own lives and the sweep of God's dealings with his people, using eyes of wisdom and faith. Patterns emerge: forgetfulness, distrust, rebellion—a tendency to go our own way and find ourselves lost, powerless, wondering where God is amid all the trouble 14:47. But the story doesn't end there.

There is a greater, more hopeful, and triumphant theme woven through it all: God's faithful love. This love never ceases. The prophets, the psalmists, all of Scripture urge us to remember who we are and whose we are—to "remember ourselves into the story of God," the story we've been placed into by him. This story is not about our failure, but about his relentless, redemptive love, a love that lifts and carries us "through all the years” 15:54.

Isaiah reminds us, "In all our suffering, he also suffered, and he personally rescued them. In his love and mercy, he redeemed them. He lifted them up and carried them" 15:41. Even when we don't feel like we are his, even when we feel abandoned or alone, the truth remains: He is with us 16:03. This is the truest thing and it is the final thing—the faithful love of the Lord never ceases.

Today, let these words settle deep in your soul: God’s presence is with you, his good news is for you, and his love endures for you. May this truth give you joy, hope, and peace 16:38.

That is a prayer that I have for my own soul. That is a prayer that I have for my family—for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that is a prayer that I have for you. May it be so 16:58.

Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.

Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

And now Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. And where there is sadness, Joy. Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life. Amen

And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray...
