July 28th, 26: Isaiah 53–56; 2 Peter 2 : Daily Bible in a Year

Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible for July 28th, day 209 of our journey through the Scriptures. Today, we begin in Isaiah, exploring chapters 53 through 56, passages rich with prophecy, hope, and the promise of restoration. From there, we turn to Second Peter, chapter 2, which offers a sobering look at false prophets and the enduring truth found in God’s word. Together, we reflect on God’s invitation to come to Him in our thirst and brokenness, discovering His everlasting love and generous grace. TODAY'S DEVOTION:

Are you thirsty? Are you hungry? Then come to God. Don’t come in ignorance or with a sense of doom, fearing what you’ll hear Him say. Instead, come with your ears wide open, because what you’ll hear are God’s words of love—a love that will never fail. Isaiah 55:3 says, “Come to me with your ears wide open. Listen, and you will find life.” He offers to make an everlasting covenant with you, to give you all the unfailing love He promised to David. See how rich and generous the gifts of God are for the hungry and thirsty, for the broken? It’s beyond what we can imagine.

So often we close our ears to God because we fear. We fear His words of judgment and rejection. But Isaiah calls us to open them wide. Verses 7 and 9 remind us—turn to our God, for He will forgive generously. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are His ways higher than our ways, and His thoughts higher than ours. His ways and His thoughts are far beyond ours—so much grander, so much kinder than we could ever dream.

And the generous food that He gives to the hungry—food that opens eyes and minds to His heart and His ways—is His Word. Isaiah 55:11 says, “It is the same with my word. I send it out and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.” All of this becomes an everlasting sign of His power and His love.

So look up, thirsty one, and see what God has done. He has sent the final Word—His Son. Open your ears wide and hear God’s answer to your thirst, your hunger, your brokenness. It’s Jesus, the living Word. Come with your ears wide open. Listen, and you will find life.

That’s the prayer I have for my own heart, for my soul. That’s the prayer I have for my family—for my wife, my daughters, and my son. And that’s the prayer that I have for you. May it be so.
