Don't be shaken. Don't be fooled. There's so much that comes at us in life that can shake us that can fool us. We can be shaken by circumstances, relationships that have broken financial, physical woes, things that pile up and pile on, we can be shaken to the point that we despair of our own lives. God can feel so distant, and it shakes us. We can be fooled, we can be wound up by anxious teachers who have lots of bluster and swagger. And they want to convince us that we're not doing enough or you're not believing the right things, or that God is out there somewhere. And you need to do these things in order to meet him, or that you'll miss him, or that you'll be left behind or you'll be left for hell. You can be fooled. That's what's happening with this little church in Thessalnica, they were being fooled. They were being told that there was some spiritual person or event or teaching that they were in danger of missing. And so they needed to do something more in order to get on board, or be left behind or be left for hell. If life isn't hard enough to have these kinds of things terrorizing you. Well, Paul says, steady on here in verse 2, don't be shaken he says. And then in verse 3, don't be fooled. Steady on. Remember, it was God who chose you. Verse 13, Paul says this, we are always thankful that God chose you to be among the first to experience salvation, a salvation that came through the Spirit, who makes you holy. Don't be fooled by those who tried to roll it back onto your shoulders and want you to do something else. Paul is saying it has already been done. You don't have to go out into the desert to look for someone. Because someone came into your desert looking for you. The good news is about what God has done for us. Not what more we have to do for him. You now share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ, not because of something you do, but because of what has been done for you. So don't be shaken. Don't be fooled. Instead, he says in verse 15, stand firm, and keep a strong grip in the teaching we passed on to you. The firm teaching that you have been drawn into the life of God through Christ, you are his, you are reconciled. You are loved. Stand firm in this. Keep a strong grip on the one who has a grip on you. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. Don't be shaken. Don't be fooled. Amen.

You are loved!
