Today's Transcript:

They set a trap, but the trap they set sprung on them. They came to trap Jesus with their questions, but their questions merely revealed that they didn't understand the scriptures, or the power of God. That's what Jesus told them from verse 29. Your mistake is that you don't know the scriptures, and you don't know the power of God. They were badly mistaken.  To know the scriptures, and to know the power of God, is to know Jesus, and the power of his resurrection. You can learn all about the Bible, and even have the whole thing memorized. But if you're not looking at the Bible through the person of Jesus, then you'll be badly mistaken too.  You can be very religious and pious, and not have the power to love God or others. That power is found only in Jesus. God offers us both of these things. He offers us knowledge and insight into the scriptures which point us to him,  and he gives us the power to live a new quality of life.

We don't have to pose and pretend because now we have new life. When we look at the Bible, through the lens of Jesus, we will no longer come to God trying to trap him in our questions. Rather, what we see is that God has trapped us into his life and his love, even before we knew it, we were loved by God. Yet while we were sinners, he gave himself for us, that he might share his love with us. When we look at the Bible through Jesus, we see what God has done on behalf of the whole world, and that you are included in this. Jesus parable today states this plainly,  the good and bad alike, have been welcomed into the banquet of God. I love how plainly that is stated here. When we look at the scriptures through Jesus, we see and know what he has done for the whole world. That's why we remind ourselves of this every day on this podcast, that we're loved.

You are loved!
