Today on this Pentecost Sunday, we are reminded that our God is a consuming fire. And that fire is not the fire of judgment. It's the fire of restoration and purification, the fire that has come to rest on all of his people. Jesus said, everyone will be salted with fire. in God's presence with us, purifies us. Christ has united us to himself, by means of his death on the cross. And now the purifying, restoring, healing presence of God rests upon you.   Our God is a consuming fire, a fire of love, that consumes all that is not of love, and has forged our union with him. Amen.
