 There is a Feast Coming

Today’s readings are Ezekiel 25 – 28 and Revelation 10.  We are reading from the New Living Translation.

Food can go from sweet to sour.  When time has its effect on food it begins to ferment and the fermenting in the stomach can create an ache within.  The scroll that this messenger from God has given to John, is sweet, when he takes it and eats it.  But the promises that are sweet, can take time to be fulfilled – more time than we want.  And this waiting can create an ache within.  We are pained with the desire for fulfillment of the sweet promises of God.  We are sick with desire for an end to evil, pain, war, injustice, abuse – and all that is wrong with this broken world.  m

This is not the last time that we see food given to God’s servant in Revelation.  The sweet message from God may have taken longer than we would have thought, and we may have aches within.  But God will not leave us with this ache.  There’s a feast in store!

Let us be glad and rejoice, and let us give honor to him.  For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb,……..Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.  (Revelation 19: 7 – 9 NLT)

Waiting will be over and we will ache no more. The sweetness of God’s promises will prove to be true.  We may ache but the day is coming when the feast will be before us.  We will see with clarity, like never before, that His life is sweet and is a gift.  We will be honored to come and sit at his table and be made new.

Recognize the sweet promises of God and hold onto them, through the ache.  It takes time.  But you can have absolute assurance that a feast is coming!

You are loved!
