GO DEEP

Today’s readings are Daniel 11-12 and Luke 6.  We are reading from the New Living Translation.

Go deep. Dig deep. Lay the foundation on solid rock. You’re going to need that because floods are coming. Jesus says that going deep is more than saying words like “Lord, Lord” over and over again, Sunday after Sunday, week after week. We can do that in church every week – saying and singing words like “Lord, Lord”. But Jesus says that unless you’re going to go deep, those words mean nothing to him or to you.

But if you’re one of those poor ones, or one of those hungry, sorrowful, excluded, or persecuted ones – and you’re desperate enough to go deep – you will find, beneath it all, the Rock. In your desperation, God’s answer is Christ in you. That’s the bedrock that you can build your house on. He gives His life and power to you, in the midst of your life and circumstances. The mystery of this exchange of His life for ours, is where we find blessing and strength.

You are blessed as you dig deep and as you are built up, in Him. As the storms come, your house will be blessed. Your life will be blessed because you’ve learned of, and experienced, his deep deep love for you. You can rest on the bedrock truth that He is enough. So let’s go deep!

You are loved!
