THERE’S A SONG WORTH SINGING

Today’s readings are Ezekiel 45 and Luke 1.  We are reading from the New Living Translation.

There’s a new song –  a song about light.  Zechariah sings:

Because of God’s tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us. (Lk 1:78 NLT)

Each new day the morning light breaks through the night’s darkness. Each new day is but a rehearsal for that One Day, when the light of the Son of God arrives.

He will give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death.  He will guide us to the path of peace (Lk 1:79 NLT).

Zechariah’s song is a song worth singing.  It is because of God’s tender mercy that this morning light is about to break upon us.  Mary has a song, too.  She sings:

How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior! For he took notice of his lowly servant girl.  (Lk1:47-48 NLT).

God’s light shines upon the lowly.  His light breaks upon the humble – on all those who are willing to let God be God in them – on all those who are willing to believe that all that God says he will do, he will do.

When our humble faith meets God’s merciful morning light, heaven breaks upon us, His song rises up within us, and God begins to do something new.  Zechariah and Mary have a song.  And we have a song.  When we meet each day with faith in who He is, heaven breaks upon us, and his light and life fill us.  And that’s worth singing about!

Sing a song of faith.  Join Zechariah and Mary, and all those who humbly believe that God is being enough to do what he says he will do.  Ask God to help you live in the joy of that today.

You are loved!
