Once again, Paul is reaffirming, in this letter, the way in which we are made right with God, the religious word for that is justification. Paul wants you to know how we are made right with God. And he lets us know very plainly, just like he has earlier in this letter that we are made right now by our own righteousness, but a righteousness that is given to us through Christ. It is by faith alone in Christ, by grace alone. That's it. It's a free gift from God. And he wants us to have this emblazoned upon our own heart and soul wants us to know that it is not through obedience to the law. That was the tragic heart condition and mistake of Israel. They thought this was the way that God shows us know, the way is through Jesus, He alone is the one who never failed in regards to the law, as we are always doing. No, he succeeded in fulfilling all of the law, all of its purposes. And he did that in order to make a way for all people, Jew and Gentile alike, everybody. He did it so that we could all find our way to go. And when we realize this, we see that, that God has always been in pursuit of us, even when we didn't know. He's been after, even when you didn't know it. And when we discover that, when we think that, oh, I found God, you realize, no, he found me. And when we look at God, and we say, look, there he is, I see him, we see that he has his arms wide open for us. I love how Paul ends that letter with those words with that imagery. But regarding Israel, God said all day long, I opened my arms to them. God's arms have always been open to you. And there may be a day maybe you've already experienced it. But what a day it is when you realized he's been pursuing me this whole time. His arms are open to me. What a day, that day is today. We can experience that today. And that's a pair of my own heart that I will indeed, that I'll go through this day, recognizing very, very plainly that Christ's arms are open to me. the embrace of God, the kindness of God, the grace of God, the mercy of God, it's all for me. It's all for you. And that's a prayer that I have for my whole family for my wife, my daughters, my son. That's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so
