Jesus invites us to live as he does. He says in verse 6, "those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did."
How is that? How did Jesus live his life? He lives in union with his father, "in God" in the spirit. And He shares the life he has with his Father and the Spirit through self giving, radically forgiving, co-suffering love. This is his way of being. And he invites us to share in his way of being because we like him are united with Jesus, the Father, and the Spirit. The new commandment we are asked to obey is a manifestation of who we have become in Christ. We are united with God. And now we share his life of love with the world. May God help us today to awaken to who we really are, and live and share his life of love and joy.
