I Samuel 18, I Chronicles 6,  Psalm 11, and Matthew 3

This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.(Mt 3:17)

These are the first words that we hear the Father speak over his Son, in the Gospels.  They are the words that the Father longs to speak over all people, all over the earth. He longs to say, You are my daughter and you bring me great joy. You are my son and you bring me great joy.

This is the heart of the Father for all people everywhere - broken, lost, sinner people like you and me.  Jesus came to do all that was needed, so that every man, woman, boy and girl could hear the words and know the reality of the Father’s loving heart.  Jesus says to John, we must carry out all that God requires.  And in the resurrection we see THE evidence that Christ did everything that was required.  He achieved for us, through his sinless and loving life, a life that we desire.

By coming, humbling himself, being born, living, dying, being buried and being raised to new life - we can now hear those words of the Father, and receive them in the core of our being.  God the Father has spoken over Jesus, his Son. Now these words are spoken over us, through Christ.

This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. (Mt 3:17 NIV)

Now because of what Christ has done, through the resurrection, we too can have those words.  His words can fill, empower, and inspire us to live the life we were always intended to live, through the power of Christ in us.

You are loved!
